We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is looking for a dedicated Credit Control & Accounts Assistant to join their small, close-knit finance team based in Paignton.

Your Role as a Credit Control & Accounts Assistant
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function. This is a varied position where credit control and core accounts administration are equally important, ensuring both healthy cash flow and the smooth running of the purchase and sales ledger.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company's credit control function, proactively chasing outstanding payments and resolving customer account queries.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure prompt payment while providing excellent service.
- Process supplier and customer invoices and credit notes accurately using Sage 50.
- Match supplier invoices against the purchase order system.
- Reconcile supplier statements on a monthly basis.
- Authorise purchase orders and process receipts.
- Assist with the day-to-day administration of the finance department, including data entry, maintaining records and supporting the wider team.
- Answer incoming calls and provide general administrative support where required.
What We Are Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys a varied finance role and is equally comfortable managing credit control responsibilities and day-to-day accounting tasks. You'll be proactive, organised and able to work independently while contributing to a small, friendly team.
About You
- Credit Control: Previous experience in credit control is essential. You'll be confident managing customer accounts, chasing outstanding payments and building positive relationships to maintain strong cash flow.
- Accounts Experience: Experience processing purchase and sales ledger, reconciliations and general finance administration within a busy accounts environment.
- Software Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Sage 50 experience is preferred, although training can be provided if you have used another accounting package.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to manage competing priorities.
