This vacancy is now closed Design Engineer - Newton Abbot £35,000 - Engineering and Manufacturing Ref: 25 Date Posted: Monday 23 Jul 2018 ShareMore Mechanical Design Engineer experienced in using Solid Works is sought to design, develop and introduce new and existing products that meet the requirements of the business in terms of innovation, style, technology, quality, cost and reliability. Main responsibilities: In-house provision of mechanical design and development services for current and new machines, assemblies and components as part of an integrated engineering department. To ensure tasks are delivered to production and sales on time, to cost and to the defined specification and that they are fit for purpose. Delivery of value engineering projects and initiatives that support a culture of continuous improvement and lower costs. Ensure all design changes are delivered to Production in full and to the standard required for efficient manufacture. Creation and maintenance of assemblies and components in 3D Solidworks and other software as designated by the Company. Production and maintenance of 2D drawings. Knowledge of Auto cad for previous archive drawings. Together with the Purchasing Department liaise with suppliers to source and build sample mechanical and electrical components, assemblies and machines as part of the design realisation process. Research of product requirements through interviews, meetings etc where appropriate to arrive at agreed specifications and to document these accordingly. As part of the design team, have involvement in the collation and maintenance of design costs through accurate BOM's and project expense codes and to report on these to the Managing Director. Ensuring Sample Approval and Engineering Change Note procedures are adhered to for all design changes. Ensure all areas of responsibility are carried out in line with the Company’s current standards and methods, maintaining all required documentation and records. Travel across the UK and Europe to visit suppliers and third party service providers as required. This is a full time, permanent role. Salary c£35,000 depending on experience, plus a good range of benefits to include 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) and enrolment into the workplace Pension Scheme.
