A very rewarding opportunity has arisen within the Court of Protection Team for a Finance & Benefits Assistant. This position would suit somebody who is keen to help individuals who cannot manage their own benefits and finances whether due to a lack of knowledge or capacity. They are ideally looking to recruit an individual on a 30 hour working week although as ever there can be some degree of flexibility in this. The successful candidate will be entitled to ‘hybrid-working’ system once the probationary period of 3 months has been successfully completed. The Person The ideal candidate will have good experience of managing money/personal finance to include strong budgeting skills. Experience or knowledge of benefit entitlement would be a bonus but not essential as full training is offered. Additional the following skills and experience are required: Competent IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Ability to work on own initiative and manage a caseload Ability to work within a small team Use of own vehicle and willingness to travel within Devon and Cornwall to meet individuals in their own homes (mileage paid) The following are desirable requirements: Experience of completing financial assessments Knowledge of grants, schemes, reductions and exemptions for low income households Experience of working with vulnerable adults The Job Responsible for claiming and managing benefits Ensure that all funds held for the client are being used in their best interest Responsible for budgeting individual clients and ensuring outgoings are within budget Maintaining Client database and files to ensure accurate record keeping Ensure personal money is made available for the client Completion of Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) forms and financial assessments for Local Authorities Liaise with client Liaise with Local Authorities, social workers and other professionals involved with the client Ensure all personal data is kept secure and under GDPR rulings Ensure benefit knowledge is kept up to date by attending training courses and using Gov.uk websites Assist Court of Protection Officer with duties listed above Assist with any other duties that may arise from time to time Salary & Benefits Salary £23,831 pro rata 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays pro rata Comprehensive Private Medical Cover Pension Hybrid working model - home and office based Free Car Parking This position is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
