Finance Assistant (Charity) - Totnes - Devon

We are a busy charity providing financial administration and payroll services to individuals in receipt of direct payments from local authorities to fund their social and personal care.  Due to service expansion we are seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant, within our Torbay division which currently supports some 500 clients with paying their carers – whether agencies or personal assistants.

This position would suit somebody who is part (or fully) AAT qualified looking to further their accounting career with fantastic training.  Whilst we are not necessarily looking for the finished article, you will be competent and proficient in basic accounting.  In addition you will be a competent IT user including Excel, Outlook and Word. 

You will be expected to undertake the following:

  • Training on the Charity accounts procedures and systems.
  • Creation and monitoring of customer ledger to ensure client’s invoices are raised and paid. Sending reminders and chasing debt where necessary.
  • Assisting with payments of invoices to agencies.
  • Ensuring that clients remain within their allocated budget.
  • Processing new starters and leavers.
  • Dealing with queries from clients, their employees and the relevant local authorities.
  • Maintaining client files to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Administration of auto-enrolment procedures for clients.
  • Processing 4 weekly and monthly payrolls and submitting RTI reports to HMRC within strict timescales.
  • Calculating and processing of pension contributions.
  • Production of reports for BACS payments and issuing payslips.
  • Calculating additional items such as holiday pay, SSP, SMP, SPP and redundancy payments.
  • Assisting with any other duties that or may arise from time to time.

Workplace training will be given and, for a suitable candidate, training towards a professional qualification (AAT) may be offered.
