IT Project Coordinator - Newton Abbot - Devon

The key purpose of this role is to assist the IT Services Manager in the development and management of new IT projects. You will ensure project plans are accurate and up to date and help to ensure the quality of the solutions delivered by our software development partners. You will ensure these solutions are robustly tested, working closely with colleagues, and communicating feedback to our partners. This is a hands-on role where your duties will vary depending on project requirements. You may join a project at the initial implementation stages to help identify business requirements; prepare the specification or assess potential risks; or you may be brought on to a project midway through.

The requirements of the job will be many and varied commensurate with the needs of a dynamic, high growth business. Working mainly within the IT Team, responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist the IT Services Manager in identifying business requirements that may be met by the development of new software systems
  • Work with the IT Services Manager and team managers to produce specifications for new developments
  • Work with our software development partners to ensure projects are understood and resources planned appropriately
  • Document, track and monitor developments as they progress flagging up concerns to the IT Services Manager as appropriate
  • Oversee robust testing and quality assurance on software delivered by our partners to ensure it meets project specifications
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of company databases and software applications
  • Remain informed on business related software updates, upgrades and additional services
  • Where needed, to assist other teams in the development and co-ordination of their projects
  • Contributing to team and process development

Person requirements - to be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience IT project planning and implementation (at least 18 months)
  • Knowledge of full project development life cycle and methodology
  • Familiar with project management tools eg MS Project, Zoho Projects
  • Organised, methodical and thorough
  • Able to prioritise and work on multiple projects
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Good knowledge of data protection and information security principles in a sensitive business environment
  • Willingness to travel to partners’ offices to facilitate close working with their development teams
  • Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Moodle or other e-Learning application
  • Experience of using software development tools (eg Jira)
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Educated to degree level
