Paignton, South Devon | £28,000 – £30,000 per annum
Permanent, Full Time | Office Based | 37.5 hours | Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
The business
My client is an established UK-based manufacturer producing high-quality, bespoke products for commercial clients across the UK. Their work combines design, manufacturing and installation, with projects ranging from individual requirements through to larger commercial installations.
They are a small, close-knit team, where everyone has an important role to play. This creates a hands-on working environment where you’ll get to understand how different parts of the business fit together and have the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills.
The role
This is a genuinely varied position covering office administration, customer service, order processing, delivery and dispatch, and practical activities.
You’ll have genuine ownership of your work rather than being confined to one narrow set of duties. One day you might be handling a customer enquiry and organising a delivery; another could involve preparing components for dispatch or check
ing stock.
You don’t need to arrive with experience in every area. Full training and support will be provided. What matters most is your approach: you’re organised, methodical, proactive and willing to learn.
Key responsibilities
- Responding to customer enquiries, managing CRM records and developing product knowledge to handle enquiries and spare parts requests.
- Preparing quotes and purchase orders and supporting the invoicing process using Sage 50.
- Organising deliveries, collections and courier dispatch, including liaising with customers and installation teams to keep deliveries on schedule.
- Assembling, checking and securely packing components for dispatch and monitoring stock levels.
- Identifying and resolving shortages, damaged goods and quality issues.
- Coordinating company vehicle checks, servicing, MOTs, taxation and records.
- Learning to operate a rotary engraver to produce numbering plates and key tags.
- Maintaining statutory inspection and testing records and supporting GDPR, data protection and quality requirements.
- Supporting product design activities, with the opportunity to develop basic AutoCAD skills.
- Carrying out occasional local collections, deliveries and supplier runs using the company van when required.
What we’re looking for
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with a methodical approach and good attention to detail.
- Proactive, reliable and able to prioritise effectively while managing changing requirements.
- Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CRM systems.
- Flexible, conscientious and willing to learn and support the wider team when required.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience with Sage 50 or familiarity with AutoCAD would be an advantage, but neither is essential.
Training & progression
As your knowledge and experience develop, there is genuine scope to take on more responsibility and progress towards areas such as Product Design or Project Management, including further AutoCAD training where relevant.
What’s on offer
- 20 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
- Your birthday off
- Company pension and free on-site parking
- Full training, ongoing support and genuine opportunities for progression
If you’re organised, adaptable and keen to learn, and are looking for a varied role where you can make a real contribution within a small team, we’d like to hear from you.
