Project / Logistics Expeditor - Plymouth - Devon

Our client designs and supplies world-leading technology water treatment systems for large scale projects. The company’s latest challenge is for a major project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using equipment and systems fabricated directly in the UK as well as from international suppliers. The job involves supporting the Company in the delivery of its key projects by expediting the production, procurement and shipping plans to meet construction deadlines.  This is a broad task that includes:

  • Tracking fabrication and procurement progress, chasing vendors to deliver on time to meet fabrication or shipping deadlines, arranging inspection as required.
  • Taking appropriate action to investigate and correct delivery issues.
  • Working in conjunction with specialist freight forwarders/shipping agents to arrange domestic and international shipments, providing supporting documents as required to ensure a clear transit through customs to the point of delivery.
  • Compiling a library of relevant data sheets and product specifications to support shipping and project completion documentation.
  • Notifying key staff of approaching major deadlines and identifying associated risks.
  • Assisting with project costing and providing progress reports as required.
  • Using appropriate software tools to assist with these tasks and help bring the project in on time and on budget.

The Person - Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Ideally you will have a background in logistics or project management and purchasing.
  • You must be computer literate and be an experienced user of Microsoft Office.Experience of other project management and database software such as MS Project or equivalent and MS Access would be a distinct advantage.
  • We are looking for a highly organised person who has an eye for detail, methodical and thorough in approach, and with good effective intelligence.
  • You will be someone who likes a challenge, thrives under occasional pressure and is great at problem solving and introducing long-term corrective actions.

This is a full time, permanent role.  Salary £30-35K depending on experience, plus a good range of benefits to include 24 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) and enrolment into the workplace Pension scheme.
