Senior IT Assistant - Paignton - Devon

Our client is an award winning, national company that is experiencing a period of expansion and growth and need positive, energetic people to join their team.

The role

They are looking to hire a full time Senior IT Assistant with excellent customer service skills and experience of working within a team. To assist in all elements of IT support, including day to day operation, set up and maintenance of windows-based computer systems. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems including Server 2012, 2016 & 2019 is essential as well as a good knowledge of mobile phone setup and operation.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

He or she will provide a professional first point of contact in technical support and customer service as part of the IT team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Telephone support for all office and depot staff to include, where necessary, remote assistance with the ability to clearly explain information and procedures in non-technical terms to a range of users.
  • Build, setup and test all new computer hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile phones and CCTV systems.
  • Installation/distribution of virus protection to include knowledge on removal of viruses/malware from machines.
  • Set up new users on Windows server 2012 and configure local and remote access roles.
  • Set up and support both Cat 5e & Wi-Fi Networking throughout the company.
  • Monitoring of existing broadband connections and setup/configuration of new broadband lines as required.
  • Monitoring of existing telephone services and setup/configuration of new lines and handsets.
  • Supply and assist with mobile phone and MiFi devices.
  • Assist with asset register tracking of all computer hardware and IT equipment.
  • Ongoing preventative maintenance of all machines managed from a central portal.

Senior IT Assistant Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparative role (essential)
  • MCSA in SQL or equivalent (desired)
  • MCSE (desired)
  • SIA CCTV (desired)

There will be occasions when it is necessary to work additional hours or earlier/later than these times and the requirement to work onsite at any of their UK depots, which may require overnight stays and nationwide travel.
