Service Manager - Paignton - Devon

We are a small family owned and managed company who carry out a wide range of mechanical and technical services to both domestic and commercial clients in the South West. We are looking for an experienced manager with demonstrable leadership skills to lead a professional team of engineers. Our focus is to provide a quality service to our customers at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the daily delivery of service and breakdown operations for the company
  • To run a small experienced team of engineers who carry out emergency, urgent, routine, planned and cyclical jobs for domestic and commercial clients
  • Deliver an effective service whilst managing expenditure
  • P&L responsibility for all service and breakdown operations.  In addition, ensuring all incoming applications for payment are check and signed off in a timely manner
  • Maintaining and growing client relationships to ensure contract extensions, remedial works and installations.  Including to represent the Company at site meetings
  • Carrying out technical inspection and spot checks
  • Reporting on department performance
  • Implementing company policy and procedures
  • Participation in the out of hours management rota
  • Provide regular updates on progress and performance of service
  • Drive efficiencies and productivity of engineers whilst focusing on profit margin opportunities
  • Responsible for any RAMS, PPE, Toolbox Talks and audits required for the team

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of gas repairs and servicing in both domestic and commercial environments which includes any relevant regulations, legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communications skill (both written and verbal) with a proven ability to influence and manage stakeholder relations
  • Comprehensive IT and systems knowledge
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and targets, and to ensure that their team meets deadlines and targets.
  • Service contract and remedial quotations and management
  • Be confident in problem solving, decision making and demonstrate that you understand the root cause of a situation
  • Experience of implementing and delivering operational procedures, including PPM schedules

Essential:

  • Recent (but not necessarily current) Gas Safe ACS Qualifications
  • Up to date knowledge around compliance and relevant legislation
  • Relevant HVAC technical background (bias towards plumbing and heating)
  • Proven client facing / customer service experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Clear DBS
  • CSCS
